Michigan State's Messiah deWeaver runs against Ohio State in the fourth quarter Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

Michigan State quarterback Messiah deWeaver announced on Twitter on Saturday night that he will transfer to another school.

DeWeaver thanked Michigan State coach Mark Danonio and the coaching staff, along with his teammates, the faculty and MSU fans in his social media post.

"It was a blessing to grow and to be a part of Spartan Nation," deWeaver wrote. "My journey continues ... #GoGreen."

After redshirting as a freshman last season, deWeaver was thought to be in the mix for the backup quarterback job. He played in two games this season, but did not attempt a pass.
