Have a gardening project idea? Apply for a Seed Money Award

The Black Mountain Beautification Committee is accepting applications for the 2020 Seed Money Award.

This award(s) will be given to an applicant or applicants who submit a gardening project that best exemplifies the mission of the Beautification Committee: honoring the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains ... while seeking to reflect that beauty on the street and in the lives of the citizens.

Focus of the project must be gardening-related within Black Mountain and adding a little something extra to our town. Gardening-related can have a broad interpretation. We encourage you to use your imagination!

Applications are available at blackmountainbeautificaiton.org, Black Mountain Town Hall, Black Mountain Library,  Black Mountain Visitor Center, Black Mountain Beautification Committee Facebook page

The deadline for this application is March 9. The award will not exceed $1,000. Generally the total award amount is divided among several applications/projects. Proceeds for this award were raised at the Black Mountain Garden Show and Sale. If you have questions, feel free to contact Susan Edwards at 828-458-5907.

We have awarded 16 people/organizations since the Seed Money Award began in 2014. In 2019, it was given to: The First Christian Church to establish a pollinator garden, The Curiosity Shoppe to refurbish a fountain, and to Kate Shawgo and neighbors to establish a community meadow garden.

If you have a gardening-related project in mind that exemplifies the committee’s mission statement, we encourage you to submit an application as you may be the next winner.
