Nov. 21 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests

The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

Driving under the influence, driving with an expired tag, seat belt violation and non-assaultive child abuse were reported Nov. 8 on the 100 block of Old U.S. 70. 

Interfering with an emergency communication was reported Nov. 8 on the the first block of Mountain View Avenue. 

Driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane control were reported Nov. 8 on U.S. 70. 

Theft from a motor vehicle was reported Nov. 9 on the first block of Locust Street. 

Warrant service for offenses committed in another jurisdiction was reported Nov. 9 on Old U.S. 70. 

Theft from a motor vehicle was reported Nov. 9 on the 100 block of Craggy Street. 

Violation of a release order was reported Nov. 9 on the 1100 block of Montreat Road. 

Driving under the influence was reported Nov. 9 at the intersection of U.S. 70 and Grovestone Road. 

Driving under the influence was reported Nov. 9 on U.S. 70. 

Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance was reported Nov. 9 on the 2900 block of U.S. 70. 

Driving under the influence was reported Nov. 9 on I-40 eastbound at mile marker 64. 

Damage to personal property was reported Nov. 9 on the 100 block of Rockdale Avenue. 

Driving while impaired was reported Nov. 9 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70. 

A felony drug offense was reported Nov. 9 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70. 

Simple assault was reported Nov. 10 on the 300 block of McCoy Cove Road. 

Driving under the influence and assault on a government official were reported Nov. 10 on the 400 block of East State Street. 

Breaking and entering was reported Nov. 10 in Veteran's Park. 

Motor vehicle theft and larceny were reported Nov. 11 on the 500 block of N.C. 9. 

Drug equipment violations were reported Nov. 11 at the intersection of Sutton Avenue and South Ridgeway Avenue. 

Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance was reported Nov. 11 on the 400 block of Kerlee Heights Road. 

Vandalism was reported Nov. 11 at the intersection of Sutton Avenue and Richardson Boulevard. 

Resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer; possession of a Schedule I controlled substance; possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute a Schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia were reported Nov. 11 on the 400 block of Kerlee Heights Road. 

Larceny of a purse and its contents was reported Nov. 12 on the 100 block of WNC Shopping Center Drive. 

An animal bite was reported Nov. 13 on the 900 block of Old U.S. 70. 

Arrests

Glen Wayne Sluder, 55, of Fairview, was arrested Nov. 9 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with driving while impaired. 

Richard Allen Hammons, Jr., 38, of Swannanoa, was arrested Nov. 9 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
